Ylva & Astrology

Born Under Sagittarius

I was born on a winter day in 1959. December 19th. Actually... Several weeks early. I'm very grateful for that. If I had waited a little longer, I would have been a Capricorn. Nothing wrong with Capricorns... But structure, perfect order, and climbing the corporate ladder have never really been my thing.

I'm perfectly happy being a Sagittarius.

My Aunt and the Zodiac

My interest in astrology really began with my aunt. She was a Pisces. Dreamy. Creative. Always humming a tune. Always dancing. Always full of imagination. And definitely not a morning person.

Funny enough... Pisces have followed me throughout my life. My brother is a Pisces. My sister is a Pisces. Three of my children are Pisces. My former husband is a Pisces. Several of my closest friends are Pisces.

Apparently, I collect them.

Sagittarius Feels Like Home

Of course, the sign I know best is my own. When people talk about their zodiac sign, they're really talking about their Sun sign. I like to explain it this way.

Imagine the moment you're born. Now imagine taking a photograph of the entire sky at that exact second. That's your birth chart.

I have six planets in Sagittarius, including Mercury. That probably explains why I enjoy talking... Quite a lot.

Truth matters to me. Honesty matters. Fairness matters. If someone lies to me, I can simply walk away.

The downside? Sometimes I'm a little too honest. My friends have learned not to ask, "Do I look good in this dress?" Unless they really want my opinion.

Scorpio Rising

My Ascendant is Scorpio. It has taught me some important lessons. When I was younger, I could be very sharp. Very sarcastic. And very quick to defend myself.

After one of my lectures, a woman became so upset that she went home and wrote me a four-page email explaining what a terrible person I was. That was about twenty years ago.

Instead of answering right away, I decided to sleep on it. I'm still sleeping on it. 😄

That may have been one of the best lessons Scorpio ever taught me.

It also taught me something else. I used to be late for almost everything.

Today... I'm almost obsessed with being on time.

My Leo Moon

Then there's my Leo Moon. And my hair. Honestly... My hair has been a lifelong project. Short. Long. Blonde. Red. Blue. Down to my waist. Completely shaved. I've tried almost everything. And still havning bad hair days! It's funny because Leo is often associated with beautiful hair.

Apparently, my Moon still hasn't made up its mind.

I also have plenty of fire in my chart. I'm passionate. Energetic.

Whether I plan it or not, I often find myself in the spotlight. Maybe that's my Leo Moon.

And yes... Sometimes I interrupt people because I'm so excited to share my next thought.

I'm working on that.

Astrology Helps Us Understand Ourselves

I have a lot of Fire in my birth chart. Some Water. One Earth placement. And no Air at all.

People usually laugh when they hear that... Because I never seem to stop talking.

For me, astrology isn't about believing everything without question.

If you've read anything else I've written, you probably already know I'm a fairly skeptical person. But astrology offers something incredibly valuable. Perspective. It shows us the energies we were born with. The real question is, what do we choose to do with them? I don't believe we should blame our planets. I believe we should understand them.

My Way of Reading Astrology

I'm not interested in predicting every detail of the future with Astrology; I do that with Tarot. And to be honest... All those red, green, and blue lines running through a chart can still make my head spin.

I'll happily leave that part to astrologers who love it. What fascinates me is understanding people. I read birth charts in my own way. I combine astrology with intuition and with Tarot.

To me... They fit together like a hand in a glove.

My Monthly Horoscopes

Over the years, astrology naturally became part of Tarotakademin. Every month, when the Sun moves into a new zodiac sign, I sit down with my ephemeris. I draw the planetary positions by hand. Then I study each planet and what it's doing in the current sign. Sometimes I reuse a sentence from a previous horoscope. But only after checking that it still applies.

You'll find my monthly horoscopes here on the website. They're completely free. I hope they help you understand both yourself and the time we're living in a little better.

Astrology as Another Key

For me, astrology is another tool. Not to tell you who you have to become. But to help you understand who you already are.

Just like Tarot.

Just like the runes.

Just like color.

Maybe... It will help you unlock new possibilities.

I also teach 7 Keys to Astrology, where I've gathered the foundation I believe everyone should know.

My goal wasn't to make astrology complicated. It was to make it understandable. Although... Let's be honest. Astrology has a way of making itself just a little complicated anyway.
