I, Ylva, was born in 1959 in Sweden, under the sign of Sagittarius. Ascendant in Scorpio, the moon in Leo. Author of 26 books (as of 2017). Created 6 Tarot and symbolic decks.
Working title: Creative Life Inspirer.
I have been interpreting Tarot for over 40 years, since 1974. Mentioned in Expressen in 1993 as Sweden's Tarot Queen, and became one of the Top 11 psychics internationally in 2013. I've written about 26 books and created four own decks, all of which you can find under "Ylva's books and decks."
I grew up in a family consisting of my mother, aunt, grandmother, and grandfather. In my childhood home, what we call supernatural/new age/spirituality was part of everyday life, even if it wasn't something others might perceive at first glance. My mother saw fairies and was very open to energies and spirits; my aunt read playing cards (not professionally) and was interested in dreams and crystals, and my grandmother held seances where a French monk often appeared most clearly.
My early years were spent at the family-owned hotel before growing up in a villa in the city center.
In 1974, I lived in Nottingham, England, where I attended ninth grade and am proud to have received an A in English. My friends there interpreted Tarot cards and had mystical gatherings on the moors in the evenings. That was how I got in touch with Tarot cards, and my first deck was a Rider-Waite.
Since I can remember, everything related to spirituality has fascinated and influenced my daily life. I studied astrology from the age of about ten, gazed into a crystal ball, did "drum journeys" in the closet, watched for UFOs, and read Sibyl's Star cards from an early age. Mornings began with going down to our kiosk connected to our house to consult the dream book and interpret the night's dream. Around nine, my aunt had her first cup of coffee and laid out her daily star with playing cards, with me asking—What does that card mean? Why is it there? What happens if it were in another spot?
I have always had an interest in reading, possibly because of the abundance of newspapers and books in our kiosk. I've probably devoured everything. This gave me broad general knowledge and an interest in nearly everything.
My everyday life is not as spiritual/new age as many think, but I am interested in most everyday matters/real-world topics to ensure I miss nothing. In fact, in many eyes, I do what I find enjoyable in what is, after all, a life that may not always be entirely ordinary! Energies have always fascinated me, as have thoughts and philosophical reflections about life and why things are the way they are and why we do things a certain way. Magic and rituals were an interest during my teenage years; unfortunately, it sometimes became too intense, and I have experienced poltergeists up close.
Today, I find it more limiting than rewarding, and believe in the power of thought as the mightiest force.
I lived in the north of Sweden until May 197,5 when I moved to a town a little southern, where I led an ordinary, albeit supernaturally tinged, daily life and featured in my first newspaper interview as chairperson of the Nordic Society Against Painful Animal Experiments for the area. Already then, the house was filled with animals, dogs, and cats in a delightful mix.
When my children were young, I was fortunate to be a "housewife" and sold Tupperware in my spare time. (Even today, the house is lined with "plastic containers," the only things flying around when shelves sometimes don't suffice.) I worked nights at a hotel for a while, which I enjoyed immensely, being a night owl. I've also owned a kiosk for many years, trained as a nail technician, worked in elder care and stores as an educated "supermarket cashier," took office training, and now I'm in the midst of training to become a Waldorf (Rudolf Steiner) teacher, my most positively developing experience to date.
In the late '80s, I encountered Reiki healing and became an Independent Reiki Master & Karuna Master, first in Sweden and then in India. In 2000, I was the first Swede in India to train as a Reiki & Karuna Master under American William Lee Rand (www.reiki.org).
In 1990, I had the privilege of meeting an incredibly colorful woman named Vanja. She turned my life upside down. She introduced me to a shaman from New Zealand named "Shiven." He taught me everything about Totems (Native American spirit animals). Later, Vanja introduced me to another shaman, Oscar from Chile. Contacts with these men strengthened my interest in shamanism and regression.
Vanja taught me various body techniques that the psyche is connected to the physical, and that I could do more than I was willing to admit. After a while, she introduced me to another man, an American named Roger LaChance (the Unicorn method). He got me to declare, "Yes, I am psychic!" Vanja was also the one who first guided me back into past lives and taught me the best technique for seeing past lives for others. Vanja taught me practically everything worth knowing about spiritual development. She was like a living spiritual guide who, unfortunately, passed away in January 1995, one of my life's greatest sorrows.
In the early '90s, I also began studying Martinus Cosmology and had the privilege of learning from a very knowledgeable teacher. Martinus Cosmology answered many of my difficult and profound life questions and gave me different ways to answer them. Although I don't entirely "buy" that teaching either, as I am both an analytical (too much so) and often critical person, striving to know why and what happens if you do the opposite!
In 1993, I had a small shop called "The Crystal Wolf." The shop sold Tarot, crystals, and more. Interest in Tarot was so high that I was asked to hold my first course. It was also around this time that I began writing my first book, "Tarot Step by Step." During these years, I also helped start the Swedish Tarot Association. Our goal was to authorize interpreters so that interested people could discern who was serious.
The association was dissolved, and the continuation is now in the Tarot Academy, where certification is available, as well as training to become a Tarot therapist.
What I believe has developed me most over the years is studying ACIM (A Course In Miracles) and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), and life itself. In 2006, I came in contact with Anthony Robbins' workshops, and I like mental programming. I also enjoy the thinking of Neale Donald Walsch, for whom I took a 7-week online course in summer '11 and a 9-week online course in spring 201,3 and to workshops in Oregon. In 2012, the Sedona Method complemented and provided me with more opportunities
Regarding myself as a person, I usually describe myself as overly positive, a hopeless optimist who believes that every bad thing has something good about it. I'm creative and intense, charmingly impossible, joyful, and delightfully ditsy, with a twinkle in my eye, unfortunately, far too analytical about everything. I am fortunate to have many fantastic friends who enrich my life in every way imaginable and join the adventures I come up with. :-)
Until December 2019, I lived in Sweden with my family and many visiting friends. Much depended on the fact that I had many animals: horses, dogs, cats, and birds that needed care. As a fun fact for those who don't know, my house came with some little "trolls" who kept everyone active; they are overjoyed with slippers/shoes and cigarettes. Occasionally, my snuff cans ended up in my rubber boots, which found themselves in entirely different spots from where I left them.
On December 15th, 2019, I got in the car to drive down to Alicante, Spain. The car broke down in France, but I arrived on December 18th, the day before my 60th birthday, celebrated with friends who flew in from Sweden. Since then, it has been a constant rollercoaster, as nothing went as planned, largely due to COVID. The courses that were supposed to happen were canceled, collaborations fell through, and I went into quarantine.
Spain is a fantastic country with wonderful people, reminiscent of Sweden in the 1970s, with phone booths, post offices, and respect for the elderly among other things.
In 2021, I participated in some courses with Tony Robbins and Dean Graziosi, gaining more tools. In 2022, I decided it was time to move past the influence of negative thoughts around me. Although I'm very positive, it's been a tough year for many. I signed up for a 21-day course on manifesting, which led to training as an Infinite Possibilities Trainer, later a Trailblazer, and training in Matrix. In this, I can tie together all my education and knowledge to inspire. In meeting you, I wish to inspire you to find your potential, to engage in the right occupation, to have security, to live in love, to be healthy and happy. In the challenges that some call problems, see the charm, the lesson, dare to challenge yourself to create better conditions—I would love to be a creative life inspirer in your life.
I often have fun, as I always end up in the strangest situations just because I am so lively. I am always in the moment, in trust, and enjoy every second life has to offer. My interests are many, and I've tried to organize them so you can easily find more information on the topics that interest you.
Over the years, I've occasionally taken breaks from Tarot, and every time it ended in disaster! L Useful lessons, I'm always in phases of change regarding Tarot, for the cards are fantastic, a tool, archetypal images showing the energy we are in and the one we create. And in everything I do, I always fall back on creating your own life; no one else is responsible, and fate is what you make of it. Karma is created and reshaped with every action.
Runes have always been a significant part of my private life, and now also spreading knowledge about rune magic.
In my everyday life, aside from usual activities like cleaning, which I enjoy, cooking, and crafting, I spend a great deal of time writing. During the quarantine (and lockdown in Spain), I wrote my first "novel"— "The staff of Uhr," which is the first of a planned series of nine books.
I walk about half a mile to a mile daily. I play poker online for relaxation, and as an analyzer, I watch many series, preferably crime, but also "Supernatural" and "Fringe," which are my favorites. However, I belong to the small percentage that has never seen "Game of Thrones." I'm not interested in so-called spiritual programs or those with metal machines, which is why I don't like "Avatar" either.
Changes are the only constant, which could be my motto, but I believe in development, in everything for body, soul, and spirit, or physically, emotionally, and mentally. I'm a time optimist but have improved in managing everything, though I multitask constantly. Over the years, I've appeared in the media somewhat.
I've been featured a lot in the Swedish TV1. I was named one of Sweden's 50 best mediums. In the summer of '03, I was named Sweden's Tarot Queen by "Expressen," one of Sweden's biggest Newspapers, and appeared on the front page. Besides this, I've appeared on several local radio programs.
From July to September, I lived in Kyiv, Ukraine, and participated in a TV program "Extra Sensia," where I was ranked the 11th best psychic international in 2013.
