Ylva and Tarot

I am more than just a Tarot expert. Approximately 90,000 hours of interpretations, writing 16 books about Tarot, individual coaching, courses, workshops, and education.

My Tarot career began in 1974, when I encountered Tarot in Nottingham, England, where my friends were reading Tarot. I curiously drew cards and had them interpreted, feeling both irritated and surprised at how accurate the results were. When I returned to Sweden and resumed my usual playing cards, it became clear to me that Tarot was the way to go.

My first deck was a Rider-Waite, which I still have, although it has an amusing story behind it. When I had my shop "The Crystal Wolf" , one of the part-time employees sold the last deck to a customer, thinking she could sell the demo copy cheaply. I was upset, but everything happens for a reason. Some years later, when hosting a Tarot course, a participant complained her deck didn’t work—could it be because it was already opened and used when she bought it? It turned out to be my Rider-Waite deck she had. Thankfully, she exchanged it since it didn’t work for her at all.

Back to 1974 (imagine, so many years ago). I laid a few cards, but I wasn't a good interpreter. I did what most do—laying a few cards, reading the accompanying booklet without understanding the Tarot’s foundation, and simply practicing reading aloud (which, unfortunately, many do, making it time-consuming and missing the whole system).

The years passed, and everything new age followed me. I had children, and that was when my life really began. I had time to do what I wanted, thanks to their father, who gave me the opportunity to stay home. I ended up attending get-togethers with a shaman and began learning and understanding the entirety, all elements, and the wheel of life.

One day, while "playing" with my Tarot deck, I suddenly understood the connection between Tarot and all elements (fire, water, earth, air, and ether).

Tarot took on a whole new meaning for me; my interpretations became deeper, more insightful, as I understood how work, economy, love, and self build our reality around the soul. Then numerology arrived in my life, and it was surprisingly shocking how well it aligned.

I thought the numerologist who interpreted my numeroscope knew me better than I knew myself. I began working with numbers in Tarot, and Astrology was already in my repertoire; I just had to build upon it.

Tarot surpasses all interpretation methods, encompassing everything, and is suitable for every religion and culture, past and present.

Around the late '90s, Tarot became a full-time occupation. I began taking notes on the cards, and in '92, we moved to another town. I opened "The Crystal Wolf," and people came in asking about Tarot courses. I knew of none and didn't have any myself—"Nope." "Write down my name, my phone number, if you change your mind—I want to participate." Eventually, a course happened and then another and another, continuing on. Initially, my courses were once a week for seven sessions. I traveled to another town once a week, every Tuesday, for two seasons. It’s also in that town that I have my reading record for one day: 94 people in a day (24 hours).

In 1995, my two friends and I founded the Swedish Tarot Association. Our motivation was to create an organization for everyone who loved Tarot. Membership for both practitioners and interpreters, where you, as an interpreter, would take a test to demonstrate your ability to interpret Tarot (I took many tests myself to ensure I was knowledgeable). It was a fun time.

The criteria we had for authorized Tarot interpreters were that, in addition to passing the test, they should be alcohol- and drug-free (during readings), not predict death, and maintain confidentiality about their clients. I believe about 20 people became authorized.  Now I'm carrying out my project not as the Tarot Association but as the Tarot Academy, where only the very best Tarot interpreters are presented—Certified Tarot Masters. They have all completed foundational training and passed a test with me, so I can confidently refer to them and assure their commitment to the task.

In 2000, I created my first distance course in Tarot through daily email correspondence. Since then, it has evolved as I've come to find the Internet fantastic. I now have courses with login access, allowing you to complete them at your own pace. I offer several different themes, each with webinars open for a year.

In 2002, I realized (through hearing, reading, and being amazed) that I am excellent, a true Tarot expert. I was the first to release a Swedish book that wasn't translated from English, and today, with 27 books written, 16 are on the subject of Tarot. I have substantial compendiums, course materials, and several Tarot workshops and lectures annually, along with daily consultations. That makes me a Tarot expert.

Over the years, I've created the Tarot deck "Crystal Wolf" with a booklet and "Erotica Tarot" with a book. It doesn't stop there. In 2011, I wrote "Tarot, Cards on the Table," which is my absolutely best Tarot book. In 2013, I released my Tarot deck, "Prisma Tarot," which is now sold out. And in 2024, I created "The Rune Witch Tarot deck", pictures made by AI, and Photoshop, since I have many talents but not as an artist (or a singer).

My primary passion is teaching Tarot—it's a fantastic spiritual tool for personal development. But... For me, Tarot is the foundation of this magnificent tool. I also use numerology, astrology, runes, power animals, colors, and crystals.

My Tarot interpretations aren’t the classical ones with tall dark men/plump blondes (although that happens) or million-dollar wins (which I've seen a few times), but more often what’s in everyday life, how someone feels, can feel better by releasing patterns, how someone can realize their potential and create a happier life. My view is that it’s no coincidence someone gets a reading—it's perfect synchrony.

You're welcome to reach out if, like me, you sense I can inspire you through a consultation or course. I look forward to connecting with you.
